Where is God

July 20, 2012

Where is God? I ask
In the bitterness of night
Turning over in my bed
The darkness steals my sight

And why won't He reveal Himself
With a voice or with a vision?
Why does He chose silence
When we ache to see what's hidden?

I rise and flip a switch
The lamp begins to glow
And as it shines upon my face
My thoughts begin to flow

I gaze upon my fingers
So delicately made
I listen to my beating heart
Until my doubt could fade

His fingerprints are on my heart
My lungs and on my hand
With his hands he has created
Every star and grain of sand

His footprints lie in deserts
Where the thirsty found a well
They lie in fields of battle
Where they thirsty found a well

His eyes are in those who see
Beauty, Love, and Light
His lips speak through a preacher
Through a child's prayer at night

Yes His face is in His people
His hands in what He's made
His presence is in this home
His peace in those He's saved

What I see I cannot trust
For men have chased illusions
I cannot trust my heart
For the heart has seen confusions

Faith is not in what you see
What you hear or what you know
Faith is in a person
Who's love is pure as snow

"Where is God?" they'll ask
I wish I could reply
But without a change there is no way
To say what's on my mind

My only hope to spread this truth
Is to live what I believe
To be His hands, His feet, His lips
'Till they see His Spirit in me

dust and sand

And tears of grief will never rest

The greatest minds will cease to think

And with them die what they possessed

Yet all this pain will fade away

When ticking clocks need tick no more

And life, we learn, is but a phase

Of waiting at that golden door

And so the dust my hands will free

That they might gr...
